East Metro Manila cities suspend classes due to TS 'Kristine'
Several cities in the eastern portion of the National Capital Region (NCR) announced the suspension of its classes for tomorrow, October 23, due to the expected heavy rains and winds brought about by tropical storm Kristine.
Classes at all levels for both public and private schools in the cities of of San Juan, Pasig, Mandaluyong, and Marikina suspended its classes due to the storm as it slightly strengthened while moving across the Philippine Sea, east of Bicol Region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Tuesday afternoon, October 22.
As of 5 p.m., Kristine has a maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts reaching up to 90 kph.
The storm’s center was located 390 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte, and it is expected to move west-northwestward at 15 kph.
PAGASA said Kristine could make landfall in Isabela or northern Aurora on Wednesday evening, October 23, or Thursday morning, October 24, potentially as a severe tropical storm.
