Palawan places fifth in Travel + Leisure 2024's Best Islands in Asia

Imagine yourself drifting away as you sip on your drink, watching the sun set, by the beautiful shores of Palawan’s beaches. It’s a peaceful feeling, looking at the natural wonder set before your very eyes. Maybe you’re enjoying the youthful energy felt in El Nido or perhaps the picture-perfect scenarios seen in Puerto Princesa. One thing’s for certain, Palawan is a premier Philippine destination, and now the world thinks so too.

 

In Travel + Leisure’s 2024 Best Islands in Asia awards, Palawan managed to reach the top five, placing fifth behind Maldives, Phu Quoc, Bali, and Thailand's Koh Samui. It ranked 13th for Travel + Leisure’s 25 Best Islands to Visit Around the World list. To be considered for the listing, voters consider the following categories: Natural attractions/beaches, activities/sights, restaurants/food, people/friendliness, and value. Without a doubt, Palawan ticks all categories with flying colors for having a captivating mix of adventure and tranquility.

“This recognition is a testament to Palawan’s extraordinary beauty and the unwavering dedication of our people to delivering exceptional experiences,” shares Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines chief operating officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles. “We remain committed to preserving and promoting the island’s natural and cultural heritage for generations to come.” 

 

For those who seek adventure, Palawan is home to majestic limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, and lush rainforests. It takes only one visit to Puerto Princesa’s Subterranean River National Park, considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to understand what makes the island a must-visit destination. In almost every corner, you’re bound to find a natural beach site to blissfully relax by the shore.
