31 families displaced by rains spawned by 'Kristine'

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Thirty-one families were displaced here on Tuesday, Oct. 22, by strong rains from tropical storm “Kristine.”

RELIEF items are prepared for distribution to residents affected by inclement weather due to tropical storm 'Kristine' in Zamboanga City.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said a three-month-old infant died while families evacuated their homes at the height of heavy rains in Bato Lampoon, Barangay Labuan.

At least 26 families fled their homes after their houses on stilts were destroyed by huge waves in Barangay Patalon.

A landslide also displaced five families at Kilometer 15, Barangay La Paz.

Mayor John Dalipe suspended classes on all levels here due to inclement weather.

Dalipe ordered the City Social Welfare and Development Office to provide the necessary assistance to the victims.
