Classes in Northern Samar cancelled due to 'Kristine'


TACLOBAN CITY – Gov. Edwin Ongchuan suspended classes on Tuesday, Oct. 22, on all levels in Northern Samar due to heavy rainfall and possible flooding from tropical depression “Kristine.”

Ongchuan said that suspension of work in government is under the discretion of local chief executives.

He advised the public to take extra precautions and stay updated on Kristine. 

Light to moderate rains are being experienced in Eastern Visayas as of 8 p.m.

Kristine slightly decelerated while moving west over the Philippine Sea.

The tropical cyclone was last spotted as of 4 p.m. Monday at 760 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph and moving west at 15 kph.
