Eastern Metro Manila cities suspend classes due to 'Kristine'

The local governments of Marikina, Pasig, Mandaluyong, and San Juan announced the suspension of classes in private and public schools in their cities on Tuesday, October 22, due to tropical depression “Kristine.”

The Pasig, Mandaluyong, and San Juan LGUs cancelled classes for students from daycare to senior high school, including the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

In Marikina, face-to-face and asynchronous classes in all levels, public and private schools, were suspended.

The suspension was announced following the issuance of Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) at around 11:25 a.m., affecting Metro Manila.

This is also in accordance with Department of Education Order No. 37, s. 2022, which states that classes in public schools are automatically suspended in areas where PAGASA raises Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal 1, 2, 3, or 4.
