Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan reminded the public of the October 25 deadline for the cleaning and refurbishment of the tombs or niches at the Manila North Cemetery (MNC).

She said the deadline will not be extended.

Lacuna-Pangan said the advisory was issued early to give the public the time needed for them to spruce up their loved ones' tombs in MNC.

The early advisory, according to the mayor, is also meant to allow the authorities to prepare as the MNC is the biggest cemetery in the country, registering the most number of visitors annually, especially on November 1 and 2.

Apart from the October deadline for cleaning, repainting, and refurbishment of tombs, the advisory issued by the office of MNC Director Yayay Castaneda, stated that cremation will be suspended until after October 28.

The offices of the MNC will be temporarily closed from October 27 to November 3.

From October 24 to November 4, the main gate of the cemetery will be open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. only.

Lacuna-Pangan called on the public to observe the safety guidelines to avoid any hassle.

She also reminded the visitors that from October 28 to November 4, all intoxicating drinks will be banned, along with pets, flammable materials, guns, knives, paraphernalia for gambling, and loud speakers.
