Grade 2 pupil drowns in swimming pool in Isabela


ALICIA, Isabela – A Grade 2 pupil drowned in a five-foot deep swimming pool for adults during a family gathering in a resort here on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Police identified the victim as Rex, 7, of Barangay Paddad here.

Investigation said the victim’s father left him behind in the children’s pool to attend to their other relatives nearby.

Minutes later, the victim went missing and was found face down in the swimming pool for adults after an intensive search.

He was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Meanwhile, a 70-year-old farmer drowned on a river in Sitio Centro, Barangay Salinap, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

Police said the victim was crossing the river when he was swept away by the strong current.

The victim, whose body was retrieved later, was reportedly drunk when he drowned, police said.
