Reelectionist Governor Daniel R. Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro file their Certificate of Candidacy in Bulacan on Tuesday, October 1.

Before the filing of the COC, Fernando, and Castro, accompanied by their families and supporters, attended the early morning Holy Mass at the Malolos Cathedral along with the entire provincial slate of the NUP.

Fernando is seeking a third term while Castro is seeking his second term.

In an interview, Fernando said that if he is re-elected for his last term, his priority program is to push for completion of the mega dike and water reservoir projects to address the decades-old flooding problem in the province.

He also announced the launching of a dredging operation of the heavily silted Bulacan rivers this October.

The first day of registration of candidates in the province of Bulacan was generally peaceful as the Provincial Election Office braced for the surge of aspirants for provincial posts who will be filing their COCs for the May 2025 mid-term polls.

Last Monday, Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Mona Ann T. Aldana-Campos, together with Col. Satur L. Ediong, Bulacan police officer-in-charge, conducted an ocular inspection at the Pavilion of the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center of Malolos City which serves as the official venue for the filing of the COC.

The Provincial Election Supervisor called on candidates to help the Commission on Elections conduct a peaceful and orderly registration of candidates.

Other aspirants who are expected to file for the gubernatorial race are former governor Willy Sy-Alvarado and PBP-Laban and former Meycauayan City Vice Mayor Salvador Violago under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
