Parañaque LGU, MTRCB hold “Responsableng Panonood” seminar

The Parañaque City government, in coordination with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), conducted a “Responsableng Panonood” seminar to promote responsible viewing habits of city residents.

Mayor Eric Olivarez said the seminar, which was attended by students, parents, and teachers, was held at the San Dionisio Sports Complex on Tuesday, October 1.

Olivarez said the MTRCB, under the leadership of Lala Sotto-Antonio, coordinated with the Department of Education-School Division Office Superintendent, Dr. Nerissa Losaria, and the Local School Board headed by Rhodora Villar for the conduct of the seminar.

He said the attendees were given seminars on the importance of responsible media consumption. It also aims to protect the moral character and personal development of the city youths.

During the seminar, the MTRCB team discussed the classification board ratings:

The G (General audience) is suitable for all audiences that is wholesome, promotes positive values, and has no scenes with sexual context and depiction of prohibited drugs.

The PG (Parental Guidance) may contain materials not suitable for young audiences, more serious contents that may need explanation to children, and are best viewed with adult companions for supervision and guidance.

The R-13 (Restricted -13), only 13 and above will be admitted inside the cinema, ID is required for proof of age and best if accompanied by a parent or adult guardian aged 18 years old and above.

The R-16 (restricted-16), only 16 and above, will be admitted as it contains more serious content than the R-13. Moderate to strong language, violence, and sexual activity may be presented in the movie.

The R-18 (Restricted-18), only 18 and above will be allowed because it has serious contents, strong language, sexual activity, and depiction of prohibited drugs may be presented.

The classification rating discussed will help the parents or guardians, especially the youth, on what they should avoid when going to cinemas.
