No Filipino was hurt when a terror attack hit Israel and when Iran fired a salvo of missiles on the Jewish state on the same day, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv said on Wednesday night, Oct. 2.
According to the embassy, all Filipinos in Israel were safe as they immediately sought shelter when it issued an advisory to enter bomb shelters.
"Filipino community leaders helped the embassy in disseminating this safety advisory via social media and messaging platforms," the embassy said.
"As a result, most Filipinos were already sheltering in place or already inside safe rooms when the shooting took place and shortly before the missile attack at about 7:30 p.m.," it added.
The Philippine government thanked the Filipino community in Israel for their cooperation as well as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) Homefront Command for its timely alerts.
"Filipinos are now back to their daily routines, but remain ready and alert for emergencies," the embassy said.
Early Wednesday morning (Manila time), the Philippine embassy issued an advisory urging Filipinos in Israel to stay in protected areas after Iran launched more than 200 missiles towards the Jewish state following Lebanon's attack.
Iran launched ballistic missiles towards Israel following deaths of the Gazan people as well as leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said.
IRGC also warned that Israel would face “crushing” attacks should it respond to the latest attack.
The latest development came as Israel's war on Hamas started spreading, with Iran and Lebanon also now fighting Israel.
