DSWD-6 regional director resigns to run for vice mayor of Iloilo town

ILOILO CITY – Lawyer Carmelo Nochete resigned as regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-6 (Western Visayas) to run for vice mayor of Miag-ao town in southern Iloilo province.

Atty. May Rago-Castillo, DSWD-6 chief information officer, said Nochete resigned effective October 1, the start of the filing of Certificates of Candidacy for next year’s elections.

NOCHETE

He is the running mate of Mayor Richard Garin.

Nochete took office in September 2022 and served for two years.

He resigned as board member of the provincial board of the first district of Iloilo to lead DSWD-6.

DSWD-6 Assistant Regional Director for Operations Arwin Razzo is the interim DSWD-6 head.
