There have been many people who have played Superman, but none perhaps are as closely associated with the role as Christopher Reeve. To many people above a certain age, he is THE Superman. He was the living idea of a hero to everyone who ever saw the Superman movie.

What makes a hero? Fighting evil wherever it may lurk? Defending the weak? The answer, at least in part, can be found in Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story. Everyone knows what happened, at least in broad strokes. We’ve all heard of the dashing Hollywood actor crippled by a tragic accident. Not many of us know the details, struggles, and triumphs that came after. 

The documentary traces his life from relative obscurity to superstardom with the release of 1978’s Superman. It is an intimate look at the man behind the cape, as it were, and the trials and struggles he and his family had to contend with. From the tragic accident that rendered him a paraplegic to the amazing stories of love and compassion. 

Perhaps most surprising are the little tidbits that were not common knowledge, like the friendship with Robin Williams. The two got along and could keep up with one another in ways few others could. They were closer than brothers, and it showed. This special bond is unlike any Hollywood has ever and would ever see again.

More than truth, justice, and the American way, Superman stands for hope. He is an inspirational figure, an example of what everyone should aspire to be. And this doesn’t mean being faster than a speeding bullet. It means being the best version of yourself and the belief that we can all make things better. And no one has embodied this better, on and off the screen, than Christopher Reeves. 

This entire movie will show you how much of a super man he really is. And how, when he left this earth, his legacy would always live on. That iconic red and yellow S logo will mean much more from this movie onward.

And the message his life will leave you with is more powerful than worth it. You will be blessed and benefit from this brief glimpse into the life of the man behind the cape and glasses. Christopher Reeves is SuperMan.
