In the appointment letter signed by Marcos on Oct. 16, Ang will be replacing Romulo Arugay.

Aside from heading the Manila Times since 2021, Ang also serves on a couple of government boards. He is Chairman of the National Book Development Board (NBDB), an attached agency of the Department of Education, and a director of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), a non-chartered Government Owned and Controlled Corporation (GOCC).

Ang has started his career as a reporter in the United States. He also serves as Foreign Information Officer in the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto.

He returned to the Philippines in 1998, and not long after that, his family purchased the Manila Times, a national daily newspaper in the country.
