CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela – Two persons were killed when a man opened fire at a wedding in Purok 6, Barangay Centro San Antonio, this city, before dawn on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Police Lt. Col. Jeffrey D. Raposas identified the suspect as Arnel Bielgo, 49.
Investigation said Bielgo suddenly appeared at the venue of the wedding and shot farmer Charlie Rosete, 49, with a caliber .38 revolver.
The suspect fled but residents pursued him. Bielgo fired at his pursuers and hit Marvin Jake Coloma, 23.
Residents retaliated and threw stones at the suspect who died on the spot from his injuries.
Rosete and Coloma were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.
The Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives recovered the gun with three bullets and three empty shells from the crime scene.
A follow-up probe on the incident is ongoing but Raposas said the suspect could have been drunk and shot the victim during a misunderstanding.
