2 pawnshop robbers nabbed in Ormoc


TACLOBAN CITY – Two individuals were arrested for attempting to rob a pawnshop in Barangay South, Ormoc City, Leyte on Thursday, Oct. 17.

Police said the suspects were a 37-year-old male, a resident of Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, and a 22-year-old male, a resident of Argao, Cebu.

Investigation said four armed men arrived onboard  a motorcycle and attempted to enter the Reels Pawnshop. However, the sales attendant noticed the suspects and pressed the alarm and locked the door.

The suspects sensed that they were noticed and immediately boarded their motorcycles towards Lopez Jaena St. 

However, one of the motorcycles accidentally collided with a tricycle which resulted in the arrest of the two suspects. Their cohorts managed to escape.

Recovered from the suspects were a caliber .45 pistol  with a magazine and a spare magazine.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation and dragnet operations for the arrest of their cohorts.

The suspects face charges for illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, usurpation of authority, and attempted robbery.
