President Marcos has appointed lawyer Marilyn Barua-Yap as the new chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).
Barua-Yap will replace former CSC chief Karlo Nograles, who recently stepped down from the post.
In the appointment letter signed by Marcos on Oct. 16, Barua-Yap will serve as the ad interim chairperson of the CSC until Feb. 2, 2029.
Prior to her appointment, Barua-Yap served as the undersecretary for Special Concerns , External Affairs and Communications of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
She was also the secretary general of the House of Representatives from 2008 to 2016.
A native of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Barua-Yap is a lawyer and career executive service official with more than 35 years of service in government, 29 years of which were in the legislature.
She was also the first female secretary general of the House of Representatives.
