PNP: Over 1,300 cops transferred away from areas where relatives are running for 2025 polls

The Philippine National Police (PNP) have reassigned a total of 1,308 policemen whose relatives are running for various local posts for the 2025 midterm elections.

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said that the 1,308 cops were among the 1,586 police personnel who declared that they have relatives up to 4th degree of consanguinity who are running for next year’s polls.

“Out of the 1,586 policemen, a total of 1,308 were already issued with relief orders, meaning, they were already transferred from their places of assignments where their relatives are running,” said Fajardo.

“They were temporarily transferred to other units until after the election period,” he added.

Fajardo said relief orders will be issued in the coming days for the remaining policemen.

The PNP leadership earlier ordered the accounting and transfer of policemen with relatives running for the 2025 elections, particularly those seeking local elective posts.

The move was aimed at ensuring that no policemen would be involved in partisan political activities.
