'I love you too': Mayor Vico charms netizens with viral response to supporter

The playful and humorous side of Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto is now trending on social media after he responded to a supporter who repeatedly shouted "I love you, Mayor!" at him.

The video was taken last October 5 during the filing of his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the upcoming 2025 elections. Sotto is seeking reelection for his third and final term as Pasig City mayor.

Prior to the encounter, Sotto and his running mate, re-electionist Vice Mayor Dodot Jaworski, were speaking to members of the media outside the local Commission on Elections Office (Comelec).

During Sotto’s interview regarding the controversies involving the construction company of his rival candidate Sarah Discaya, he took a photocopy of a public document that could support his statement and showed it to the reporters.

As he was about to explain what the documents were for, one of his supporters shouted, “I love you, mayor! Mayor, I love you!” interrupting him.

Sotto's parents, showbiz personalities Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes, along with the reporters and the mayor's supporters, laughed as the mayor responded, “I love you too, pero quiet muna tayo (but let’s keep quiet first).”

Netizens were amused by the witty and quick rejoinder of Mayor Sotto. They posted funny comments such as:

“Nakuha ni mayor Vico yung humor ni bossing Vic HAHAAHA (Mayor Vico definitely inherited bossing Vic's humor).”

“Ayan sinagot na ni mayor nagka girlfriend na si Mayor Vico (There you go! Mayor Vico has a girlfriend now!)”

“I like this happening. So frank and serious si mayor, but loving and with respect ang kilos (Mayor Vico is frank and serious, but he acts with love and respect).”
