NPA rebel wanted for murder falls in Agusan del Norte

CAMP COL. RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Police arrested in Barangay Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte on Sunday, October 13, the most wanted New People’s Army rebel in the Caraga region who is facing a murder case in Agusan del Sur province.

Police Regional Office-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro identified the suspect as alias Dan, 34, a Militia ng Bayan member under Weakened Guerilla Front 88 of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA North Central Mindanao Regional Committee.

The suspect, a fugitive for three years, was arrested on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 7, Bayugan City, Agusan del Sur. No bail was recommended for the suspect.

Dan allegedly killed a soldier assigned to the Army 26th Infantry "Ever Onward" Battalion in Barangay Kalabuan, Ezperanza, in 2021.

Nazarro commended operating units for arresting the suspect.

“Individuals who commit heinous crimes shall face the full wrath of the law,” he said. “They shall be held accountable for such crimes and be penalized accordingly.”
