Manila hosts landmark UNIAPAC World Congress

Leaders Unite for Social Good

The XXVIII UNIAPAC World Congress is just around the corner, set to take place in Manila from Oct. 24 to 26, 2024. Hosted by the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP), this landmark event marks a historic first for the congress in Asia, underscoring a significant milestone for the organization.

UNIAPAC, the International Christian Union of Business Executives, has been a prominent global business organization since its founding in Brussels in 1931. With over 45,000 business owners and executives across 40 countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Asia, UNIAPAC is dedicated to fostering a global economy rooted in respect for human dignity and the common good, promoting the idea of business as a noble vocation.

This year’s theme, "New Paradigms for Business Sustainability," addresses the urgent need for innovative business practices in a post-pandemic world. Attendees can look forward to engaging discussions led by a distinguished lineup of plenary speakers, each tackling critical topics relevant to today’s economic landscape.

Key Networking and Sessions

The congress kicks off with a half-day business networking session on the morning of Oct. 24, co-presented by the Philippine Export Zone Authority (PEZA) and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP), exclusively for registered delegates.

In the afternoon, Jose Ignacio Mariscal Torroella, President of Grupo Marhnos, will address "Building Social Business Models for a More Humane Economy," advocating for innovative business practices that prioritize human welfare alongside profitability.

Reactions to these keynote addresses will be provided by prominent figures including Ramon R. del Rosario, President and CEO of PHINMA Corporation; Prune Ansvananda, President of UNIAPAC Asia Pacific; and Peter Freissle, President of POLYDECK Screen Corporation USA.

The congress will conclude with a plenary session led by Nikos Acuña, an international AI practitioner and tech entrepreneur, discussing "AI and the Future of the Enterprise." His expertise will equip delegates with insights on leveraging technology responsibly to enhance business efficiency and innovation.

Following this session, attendees can participate in a discussion and open forum featuring a distinguished panel, including Rene Almendras, Senior Managing Director of Ayala Corporation; Sr. Alessandra Smerilli, Secretary of the Vatican Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development; Monika Maurer, President and CEO of Radio Frequency Systems Germany; and Juan Antonio Perteguer, CEO of SLAM Universities. Relevance in Today’s Business Environment

The insights shared during the congress are not only timely but also vital for business leaders navigating today’s complex economic landscape. Joey Avellana, Chairman of the UNIAPAC World Congress Organizing Committee, emphasized the gathering's significance: “The insights shared during this congress will empower leaders to rethink traditional business models and adopt sustainable practices that benefit both their organizations and society.”

In addition to plenary sessions, participants can expect interactive workshops and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration among delegates.
