K-pop boy band ZEROBASEONE holds first concert in Manila: ‘You guys are so amazing’


K-pop idol group ZEROBASEONE successfully held their first ever concert in the Philippines on Oct. 12 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. 

The nine-member boy band’s “2024 2024 ZEROBASEONE The First Tour: Timeless World” in Manila marked their return to the Philippines. 

ZEROBASEONE attended and performed at the 2023 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) held on Dec. 14 last year at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. 

Since debuting in July last year, ZEROBASEONE achieved success. Their album, “Youth in the Shade,” garnered 2.2 million units to place 11th in the top 20 of the Global Album Sales Chart 2023 released by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), which represents the recorded music industry worldwide.

The members of ZEROBASEONE (제로베이스원) are Sung Han-bin, Kim Ji-woong, Zhang Hao, Kim Gyu-vin, Han Yu-jin, Park Gun-wook, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae and Ricky. 

After emerging on stage with the song “Solar Power” introduction, ZEROBASEONE performed “Road Movie,” “Take My Hand,” “New Kids on the Block,” “Kill the Romeo” and “Crush.” 

“We promise to give you a very good time,” said Kim Ji-woong, who is also an actor who starred in the series “Roommates of Poongduck 304” and “Kissable Lips.” 

Matthew said, “Manila! We are so, so waiting for this concert as you guys are too, I can tell.” 

“Mahal kita!” said Sung Han-bin. 

Ricky said, “By the way, I was sad that I couldn’t be here the last time so finally, I’m so excited.” 

ZEROBASEONE launched the “Timeless World” tour in Seoul in September and Manila was the third stop after Singapore and Bangkok, Thailand. 

During the concert, ZEROBASEONE sang Filipino artist Maki’s song “Dilaw.” Maki posted a video of ZEROBASEONE singing his song on Instagram. 

They also performed “In Bloom,” “Insomnia,” “Good Night,” “Always,” “Over Me” (by Kim Ji-woong, Ricky, Park Gun-wook and Matthew), “Switch” (by Sung Han-bin, Kim Tae-rae, Kim Gyu-vin and Han Yu-jin), “Switch,” “En Garde,” “Say My Name” and “Here I Am.”

ZEROBASEONE also sang “”Dear Eclipse,” “Hot Summer,” “Sweat,” “Kidz Zone,” “”Feel the Pop,” “Good So Bad,” “And I,” “Sunday Ride,” “Yura Yura” and “Hello.” 

As the concert was about to end, the members said their goodbyes one by one.

“I don’t want to go home too. Thank you for being here” said Kim Gyu-vin to the fans’ who were shouting “walang uuwi (no one will go home).”

Kim Ji-woong said, “You guys here tonight are my pride. I hope you all are happy and I promise I'll do better. Thank you so much. I love you guys.” 

Matthew said, "I have to say when we backstage we are all saying the energy here is so, so amazing. You guys, we don't want to [go home] either, we're having so, so much fun. You guys made the time so fast. Love you so so much. We will definitely come back.”

“One again, I’m very happy to be back here in Manila for our concert tonight. And, of course, because it is our first tour ever, it brings me more joy and happiness,” said Han Yu-jin. 

“Manila is our third stop and Zerose have given us so much passion and love that we really really enjoyed, so much fun tonight. We will definitely come back again,” said Zhang Hao. 

Sung Han-bin said, “Zerose, mahal kita (I love you). Thank you for coming to our first tour, ‘Timeless World,’ in Manila. Because of your love, thanks to that, we were able to do our stop here in Manila for our ZEROBASEONE first tour.” 

“We felt so much passion from our Manila Zerose tonight and because that passion has been deeply engraved in our hearts, we will definitely come back,” according to Kim Tae-rae whose song “More Than Enough”  for “Queen of Tears” won Best OST at the 15th Korea Drama Awards. 

Ricky said, “You guys are so amazing and I feel we just feel so loved and we want to pay back this love so badly and I promise that we'll be back soon.”

“Every time we're back here, you fill with happiness that I guess, the Zerose here in Manila and us, we really suit each other. Because of your passion we really did enjoy the night, the concert. I hope to see you back again next time,” said Park Gun-wook. 

The  “2024 ZEROBASEONE The First Tour: Timeless World” in Manila was presented by Pulp Live World.
