The 32-year-old Guimaras standout is expected to provide leadership for the youth-laden squad as it aims to improve its 12th place finish in the last two conferences.

“Official: Welcome to the ZUS family!” the team posted on its social media.

Gonzaga, 32, is coming off a stint with Cignal since last year. She also played for the HD Spikers from 2017 to 2020 before joining the defunct Army in 2019 until 2022.

A former skipper of the women’s national team in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games, Gonzaga boasts of a wide experience and individual accolades including Most Valuable Player and Finals MVP awards in the then Shakey’s V-League.

She also won MVP and Best Opposite Spiker twice in the defunct Philippine Superliga, and has extensive experience in beach volleyball where she and Sisi Rondina won the gold medal in the 2022 Subic Bay Futures event.

Gonzaga is expected to team up with Cloanne Mondoñedo, Dolly Versoza, Gayle Pascual and No. 1 overall draft pick Thea Gagate.

The ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles are hoping to bounce back from a winless showing in the Reinforced Conference that ended last September. They also failed to win a single match when they were playing as Strong Group Athletics in the All-Filipino early this year.
