Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares announces re-election bid

Incumbent Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro "Junjun" Ynares III is seeking re-election for the same position.

Ynares made the revelation on his official Facebook page on October 14,  almost two weeks after he filed his COC as a mayoralty candidate in the Pilgrimage Capital of the Country.

The city mayor also apologized for any confusion that the incident may have caused as he called for the support of his constituents on his re-election bid.

Ynares said he opted to remain silent on his COC filing and had no intention to tell anyone about his candidacy as the official campaign period will not start until the end of March 2025.

He said during the lunch break on October 1, the first day of the filing of the COC, he went to the Comelec Antipolo office accompanied only by his lawyer, and formally filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for mayor of the city.

Ynares' Facebook page showed a photo of him holding a copy of the COC beside Antipolo Comelec officer Atty. Joseph Vega.
