Government officials, airline executives, aviation infrastructure developers, and safety experts are expected to join the 59th Directors General of Civil Aviation Conference Asia and Pacific Regions (DGCA) which will be hosted by the Philippines in Cebu City.
In a statement, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the event will be from Oct. 14-18 and is aimed at addressing aviation sector challenges and emerging trends.
CAAP director general Manuel Antonio Tamayo said the Philippines' hosting is an opportunity to showcase the country's commitment to aviation safety and security, as well as its pledge to a sustainable future in aviation.
“The industry is adaptive to change and supports development while mitigating the impacts of climate change,” said Tamayo, adfing that this year's theme is "Shaping the Future of Aviation: Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive."
Tamayo said the meeting will focus on aviation safety, security, and infrastructure development, with industry vendors and service providers showcasing their latest products and solutions.
This is the fourth time that the Philippines has hosted the DGCA, following its previous hosting in Manila (1960, 2002) and the 52nd DGCA in 2015. The country's rich aviation history and industry commitment make it an ideal host.
