The Southern Police District (SPD) temporarily suspended the permits to carry firearms within the National Capital Region (NCR) for the conduct of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMCDRR).

According to SPD chief Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang, the country will be hosting the APMCDRR from October 14 to 15 at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

Yang said the suspension of permits to carry firearms outside of residence (PTCFOR) started at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, October 13 and will last until 12 a.m. on Friday, October 18.

The only ones allowed to carry firearms are the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) who are performing official duties and in agency-prescribed uniforms.

In relation to the conference, Malacañang issued Memorandum Circular No. 66, which suspends classes at all levels in public and private schools, as well as government work in Pasay City and Manila due to the expected number of participants.

Only offices involved in the delivery of vital services, health services, and disaster preparedness and response will remain open and continue their operations.

The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective employers and management.
