Peacemaker hacked to death in Batangas; 2 salvage victims found


TALISAY, Batangas – An 81-year-old man was hacked to death while pacifying a heated argument between two individuals in Sitio Balantok, Taal Volcano Island, Barangay Poblacion 6, this town, on Thursday evening, October 10.

Police identified the victim as Juanito.

Investigation said Juanito arrived to quell a dispute between Rie, 67, and the suspect, a man 5'7" in height, chubby, between 25- to 30-years-old, and wearing denim pants and a sleeveless shirt, over the burial of a dog.

However, the suspect hacked the victim and Rie fled. Rie returned at around 6 a.m. on Friday, October 11, and  found the victim with hack wounds.

Rie informed Leovino Cabato, chairman of Barangay Bancoro, San Nicolas, Batangas of the incident. Cabato then reported the incident to the police.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.

Salvage victims

Meanwhile, the bodies of two suspected salvage victims were found along the Abra-Kalinga Road in Sitio Pasikad, Barangay Bonglo, Licuan-Baay, Abra on Saturday morning, October 12.

Police said that the victims, both men, sustained bullet and stabs wounds in the body.

The bodies of the victims were taken to Joces Funeral Homes in Tayum, Abra for autopsy.

Police have urged people with missing relatives to visit the funeral parlor and identify them. (Freddie Lazaro)
