Marian Rivera recalls excitement after she accompanied daughter Zia to Olivia Rodrigo's PH concert

Kapuso Primetime star Marian Rivera was thrilled to take her daughter Zia to Olivia Rodrigo's sold-out "Guts" concert at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan on Oct. 5.

During a media conference for her critically acclaimed movie "Balota" at Gateway Cinema in Araneta City on  Oct.11, Marian said she would do everything to make her daughter happy.

Marian was okay with their seats being far from the main stage. But what was important was Zia was excited to see her idol.

"Never siyang nagreklamo na 'mom we're so far! Ang ginawa niya, tumingin siya sa likod niya at nagpa-alam pa siya, 'Can I stand up?' Sabi nila, 'Of course!' Tuwang-tuwa siya," she said.

Marian could have requested VIP treatment but chose not to do so. "Maganda yung realidad na ma-experience ni Zia. Bumili kami ng ticket at manood tayo."

She said, however, that some people still recognized her despite wearing a baseball cap and face mask.

"Hindi ako makapanood kasi aliw na aliw ako sa anak ko. Navi-video ako sa anak ko. Hindi na ako masyadong nakapanood. Memorize niyang lahat ang songs in Olivia, as in," Marian said.

It was quite a struggle to get to the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, but Marian said she couldn't care less as long as it made her daughter happy.

"Mahilig talagang kumanta si Zia. Mahilig din siya sa piano," she said.

Marian added: "Tuwang-tuwa talaga siya kay Olivia. Sabi ko, anak, hinay-hinay ka lang.

"Ang layo talaga namin sa stage. Super zoom ang video ko roon.

"Tapos sinabi niya sa akin, 'Mama, she said hi to me!

"So tumingin ako sa likod sabi ko, 'anak, ang dami nito ah! Sabi ko, 'Okay lang yan! Ikaw na yan!

"Pero ayoko naman isipin kung oo or hindi. Sakto kasi yung tingin ni Olivia at sinabi niya, 'Hi, up there!

"Noong tumingin naman ako sa paligid namin, siya lang ang nakatayo. Sabi ko, 'Sige anak, okay na 'yan. I-claim mo na yan," Marian said.

Marian described the reaction of her daughter as priceless when they went to the show.

"Iba yung ningning ng kanyang mga mata. Basta kung ano ang magpapaligaya sa anak ko at wala naman kaming sinasaktan, go! Support lang kami," she also said.

Marian said her eight-year-old daughter extremely enjoyed the concert and asked her for their next concert date. "Sabi niya, sino raw ang next na magko-concert."

On parenting, Marian said: "Nasa stage na si Zia na pagdadalaga. Pero iba na talaga ngayon sa kailangan na talaga niya ng guidance.

"Sa ngayon naka-focus siya sa sarili niya, kung ano ang gusto niya.

"Isa lang ang lagi kong sinasabi sa kanya: be yourself. Just be happy. Kung hindi siya comfortable sa ganitong bagay, just let me know.

"Minsan kapag lumalabas kami at may nagpapa-picture, hindi siya comfortable eh. So I also tell her to be nice to other people.

"Kung ano ang ginawa mong mabuti sa ibang tao, babalik yun sa'yo. So reminder ko rin yun sa kanya," Marian added.
