At 29, Tony Labrusca is a familiar face in the Philippine entertainment industry, known for his versatility and depth as an actor. From capturing hearts in the Boy's Love (BL) series to expressing his desire for new roles in action and horror films, Tony is an artist constantly evolving, willing to take on new challenges while staying grounded in what brought him fame. With a successful career and a loyal fanbase, Tony has been open to returning to the BL genre only under specific conditions.

Tony said he is open to another BL series—but only with JC Alcantara.

Tony first made waves in the BL genre with "Hello Stranger," a romantic movie that paired him with JC Alcantara. Released in June 2020 and directed by Petersen Vargas under Black Sheep Productions, the film was well-received by fans, many of whom continue to express their desire for a sequel or another project featuring the same duo. When asked about the possibility of starring in another BL series, Tony did not hesitate to give his candid thoughts.

"I don't mind doing a BL series again, as long as it’s not just for calling it a 'BL.' You know, there has to be depth and meaning," Tony explained. He also clarified that he would prefer to do it with JC Alcantara if he revisited the genre. "Honestly, that's the only time I'll do a BL series if it's going to be with JC again. I feel the fans would get hurt if I do another BL series, and it’s not with JC."

This loyalty to his co-stars and fans speaks volumes about Tony's genuine regard for the people who have supported his career. He understands the importance of creating meaningful work and isn’t interested in simply riding the wave of the BL trend without considering its impact on his fanbase. His collaboration with JC Alcantara remains a high point in his career, and he recognizes the special connection the duo has built with their audience.

This dreamer has aspirations for action and horror films.

Though grateful for his success in the BL genre, Tony has ambitions beyond romantic dramas. In a candid interview, he shared his desire to explore other genres, particularly action and horror. His natural charisma and ability to portray intense emotions make him a prime candidate for these roles.

"Someday, I'd love to try doing a horror or an action movie," Tony said, reflecting his yearning for more dynamic, physically demanding characters. With his athletic physique and ability to convey tension and fear, an action or horror role seems like a perfect fit for him.

Tony is also dreaming of collaborating with Kris Aquino.

Tony's other aspiration is to work with the Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino. "I would love to work with Kris Aquino. I've always wanted to work with her, and I hope and pray that she’s doing okay," Tony shared, excited at the prospect.

Tony even hinted at the possibility of starring alongside her in a May-December love story, which has sparked the curiosity of fans and the media alike. With Kris Aquino’s undeniable star power and Tony’s rising stature, this potential pairing could lead to an unforgettable project.

Tony enjoys simpler pleasures outside his acting career, including good food and wine. Recently spotted with actress Rhian Ramos at the Landers Wine and Liquor Expo, Tony shared his growing appreciation for wine culture. "I feel like you learn to appreciate wine with age. Not everyone appreciates it right off the bat," he said, reminiscing about how his mother used to drink Moscato, a sweet wine that introduced him to the world of wine tasting.

Landers' Chief Transformation Officer Bill Cummings announced that the Landers Wine and Liquor Expo 2024 will gather some of the finest wines and spirits from around the globe. He emphasized that Landers not only offers exceptional products to its members but also seeks to create unforgettable experiences, which is the primary goal of the ongoing expo.

The event is designed to allow supporters and members to explore a curated selection of world-class brands and engage with experts, making it a unique opportunity to celebrate the diversity and quality of the global wine and liquor industry.

Tony’s social life, though vibrant, often includes moments of solitude. He admits, "I don’t mind drinking alone. In my downtime, I personally prefer dining alone." Despite his public persona, Tony values these quiet moments to unwind after a busy week. "A nice tasting wine and steak is always a treat for myself, especially if I know I've worked extra hard that week."

However, Tony is also mindful of the downsides of drinking. “There’s always a good reason to drink. The problem is that drinking gives you really bad hangovers if you drink too much.” His advice? "If you don’t want to get bad hangovers, you should drink water every hour." As someone who now feels the effects of aging, he humorously adds, “I feel old now. When I was 21, I could drink every day, but it’s different now."

Tony maintains a balanced approach to life and career. Tony is a refreshing mix of spontaneity and careful consideration. He enjoys drinking with friends, as it "brings people together," but also ensures that he remains composed in public. "I don't mind if people see me drinking. It's not an issue for me as long as hindi ka 'magkakalat' kapag nakainom ka na."

His approach to life reflects a maturity and groundedness that have served him personally and professionally well. Tony Labrusca is not only a talented actor but also someone who takes his craft, his health, and his relationships seriously.

What’s next for Tony Labrusca?

Tony’s fans won’t have to wait long for his next project. He is set to begin filming a new movie at the end of this month and has an upcoming television show airing soon, much to the excitement of his loyal supporters. Managed by Star Magic and ABS-CBN, Tony’s future in show business looks bright, filled with familiar roles and new, challenging opportunities.

In every sense, Tony remains an artist to watch—whether he’s making fans swoon in romantic dramas, breaking barriers in the BL genre, or stepping into the thrilling world of action and horror films. His dedication to his craft and his fans makes him one of his generation's most dynamic and promising actors.
