The awards were given during the BLGF Stakeholders' Recognition in celebration of its 37th anniversary on Wednesday, October 9.
The event honored LGUs (provinces, cities, and municipalities) that excelled in strengthening local government finance in the Philippines, based on four performance indicator areas: local source revenues (LSR) in nominal terms; ratio of LSR to total current operating income; year-on-year growth in LSR; and total current operating expenditures per capita for the years 2022 and 2023.
The LGUs that were in the top 5 of these categories received plaques of recognition, with Pasig City receiving a total of four plaques for ranking in the Top 10 for 2022 and 2023 in the Highly Urbanized Cities category.
The city ranked in the top 4 for both 2022 and 2023 for the categories of local source revenues in nominal terms and ranked in the top 2 in the same years for the ratio of LSR to total current operating income.
Pasig City also ranked in the top 8 in 2022 and the top 6 in 2023 in the category for total current operating expenditures per capita.
The awards were received by City Treasurer Marita Calaje and City Assessor Robert Mina on behalf of the city government.
The local government said that aside from the outstanding financial management and resource mobilization, their recognition also highlights the city's sustainable initiatives to grow resources and its effective revenue generation.
It also thanked Pasigueños for being responsible taxpayers.
“Naging posible ito sa Lungsod ng Pasig, ‘di lamang sa efforts ng Pamahalaang Lungsod, ngunit maging dahil sa maagap at wastong pagbabayad ng buwis ng mga mamamayan nito. Kaya para sa mga Pasigueño—ang mga parangal na ito ay tagumpay nating lahat! (Our city's achievements were made possible not only by the efforts of the local government but also by the prompt and proper payment of taxes by its citizens. To all Pasigueños, these awards are for all of us!)” it said.
