DAVAO CITY – The Commission on Elections-Davao said that 1,437 candidates filed Certificates of Candidacy for the 2025 elections in the Davao region from October 1 to 8.
Ninety-eight are from this city, six for mayor and four for vice mayor.
Five candidates are vying for the first congressional district post, three for the second district, and five for the third district.
Twenty-three seeking city council seats in the first district, 25 in the second district, and 27 in the third district.
Comelec-Davao Assistant Director Gay Enumerables said in the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps press conference in a hotel here on Wednesday, October 9, that not a single candidate withdrew their COC on Tuesday, October 8.
The Partido Demokratiko Pilipinas-Lakas ng Bayan chaired by former President Rodrigo Duterte said that he is running for mayor here, contrary to reports that he refiled to run for senator.
"Let us all fight fake news," the PDP-Laban said.
The Dutertes' legal counsel Elijah Manuel Pepito said this is just a rumor.
