“This is another major milestone as we seek to enhance electric distribution,” said MORE Power President and CEO Roel Z. Castro after the switch on of the newly rehabilitated Molo Substation on Thursday, October 10.
Castro said it is part of MORE Power’s five-year rehabilitation plan to modernize facilities after taking over from Panay Electric Co. (PECO) early in 2020 as this city’s sole power distributor.
MORE Power took steps to address problems of the once dilapidated Molo Substation which was in operation for 23 years without proper maintenance.
Castro said there was a need to upgrade the Molo Substation due to growing demand in the area.
With a maximum of 30 megavolt ampere (MVA) power, Castro said the Molo Substation can remotely be operated from its command center via the Supervisory Control and Data acquisition (SCADA) System.
With the SCADA System, any power interruption will be minimized and will greatly enhance service reliability for both residential and commercial customers in Molo and the neighboring district of Arevalo, he added.
