BIR chief honored for cybersecurity excellence

Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr. has been awarded the Cybersecurity Vanguard honor by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through its Better Access and Connectivity (BEACON) Project.

Several BIR personnel were also recognized by USAID for their contributions to cyber security.

“These Cybersecurity Vanguard, Cybersecurity Ironman, and Cybersecurity Champion awards from USAID are international acknowledgments of our efforts to strengthen cyber security,” Lumagui stated.

He highlighted that these three prestigious awards celebrate the agency and its personnel for their outstanding implementation of cyber security initiatives and best practices.

Lumagui received the Cybersecurity Vanguard award in recognition for his leadership and dedication to cyber security development.

Five BIR personnel received the Cybersecurity Ironman award for completing the highest amount of training and skills in cyber security defense, while the Cybersecurity Champion award was given to two BIR employees for their significant roles in promoting best cyber security practices.

“We are thankful to USAID for these honors and look forward to further training opportunities in cyber security,” Lumagui concluded.
