TACLOBAN CITY - House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) before the Commission on Election (Comelec) Leyte on Tuesday, October 1.

Romualdez is seeking his third term as the representative of the first district of Leyte under the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats party.
He was met by Leyte Gov. Jericho "Icot" Petilla, Vice Gov. Leonardo "Sandy" Javier, mayors, and supporters.
Prior to filing his COC, Romualdez visited Palo, Leyte for the CARD program and joined the World Teachers' Day celebration at the Tacloban City Convention Center.
Romualdez announced an increase in teachers' allowances next year.
The recent enactment of Republic Act 11997 or Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act provides an allowance of P5,000 for this school year that will increase to P10,000 in the next school year.
He also joined the commitment wall signing at the People's Center here before going to the Comelec office to file his COC.
