The Philippine National Police (PNP) has vowed to file criminal charges against those who would be caught coddling former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque amid the ongoing operation to arrest him based on the order of the House of Representatives.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo issued the statement after Roque appeared to have been taunting the police when he uploaded a video for his online program—the same video where he was quoted saying that he deliberately delayed the uploading of the video to avoid being tracked down.
“For someone who is an officer of the court, what we can say to him is prudence dictates that he should not make any insinuations that he could continuously hide from law enforcement agencies,” said Fajardo.
“He can run, yes but he cannot hide forever,” she added.
Fajardo said the PNP, through the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), is continuously conducting operation to bring Roque to the Quad-Committee of the House of Representatives which issued the arrest warrant.
The Quad-Committee is currently investigating the drug war and the illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in the country.
In the investigation, Roque is being linked to illegal POGOs, especially after a wanted POGO operator was arrested inside the house he allegedly owns.
“We would like to warn that there are cases that could be filed for coddling wanted persons. Once we have sufficient evidence, we will pursue cases against them,” Fajardo said.
