Rizal's local candidates start filing their COCs

Several local candidates, mostly under the Nationalists Peoples Coalition (NPC) team, filed their respective certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Rizal Provincial Office of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Taytay, Rizal, before noon on Tuesday, October 1.

Comelec Rizal supervisor Atty. Arnulfo Pioquinto told Manila Bulletin that Antipolo City Vice Mayor Josefina ‘Pining’ Gatlabayan personally submitted her COC as a candidate for vice governor under the NPC ticket at 10:52 a.m.

Former Rizal Governor Rebecca ‘Nini’ Ynares, also an NPC member, filed her COC at 11:48 a.m. a few minutes after her team mates filed theirs. She intends to run as a member of the House of Representatives of one of the four legislative districts in Rizal.

Other first day filers were incumbent Rizal second district Rep. Emigdio Tanjuatco, III; Ricardo Bernados, Rommel Ayuson; Anthony Jesus Alarcon; Patnubay Tiamson; Maria Charis Ilagan-Conde; incumbent Vice Governor Reynaldo San Juan, Jr.; and Philip Jeison Javier Cruz, who, except for Tanjuatco, III, who is a re-electionist, are all running as members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Pioquinto said the filing of the COCs was smooth and orderly as the candidates have already prepared their respective accomplished forms and documents when they showed up at the Rizal Provincial Jail’s parking area where the makeshift filing area is located.

Former Governor, Casimiro 'Ito' Ynares, Jr., who was also present during the event, said the candidates under the team of his daughter, Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares, is a representation of various sector and are aiming to continue making the province as the top most competitive province in the country.

The first ten filers affixed their signatures on the tarpaulin that shows the manifesto for a peaceful campaigning in the 2025 election.
