These checkpoints were established since midnight October 1 in strategic locations as proactive response in deterring criminal activities and ensure adherence on election-related rules and regulations set by the Commission on Elections, he said.

“We value the significance of this COC filing and we assure the public that we will implement stern and extensive security coverage alongside the heightened activities that surround the election process,’’ he said.

“Our checkpoint operation is one of our methods in intensifying the security coverage in maintaining public order as we implement Comelec rules and regulation as a neutral and apolitical organization.”

Evangelista is inspecting and visiting Comelec in the region to ensure the peaceful filing of COCs.

Red teams have been deployed to different provinces to evaluate the operational readiness of PNP personnel deployed in checkpoints.
