Owner of St. Gerrard Construction runs for Mayor of Pasig against Sotto

The owner of St. Gerrard Construction Company, allegedly linked to the local partner of Miru Systems (Miru) in the Automated Election System (AES) for the 2025 elections that withdrew from the joint venture, formally filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor of Pasig City, challenging reelectionist incumbent Mayor Vico Sotto.

Sarah Discaya filed her COC at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Pasig on Monday, October 7, accompanied by her husband, Curlee Discaya, chief executive officer (CEO) of the company, and their supporters.

“Nakapag-file na tayo. I'd like to thank Comelec staff, napaka-accommodating sobrang na-assist kami. Ayun nakapag-file na and officially I have filed for the position of Mayor of Pasig (They were very accommodating and assisted us greatly. We have filed, and I have officially filed for the position of Mayor of Pasig),” she said.

According to Discaya, her team aims to transform Pasig into a smart city, focusing on a program for the homeless.

“Kung saka-sakali [manalo] (If we win...), we're aiming for Pasig to be one big smart city, with smart schools, smart hospitals, lalo na yung smart homes (and especially smart homes). Yung home for the homeless program is what we are going to push for (The home for the homeless program is what we are going to push for),” she stated.

Meanwhile, Discaya declined to comment on the ongoing allegations against their company.

She said she wanted to enjoy the moment as a first-time election candidate.

“Actually, there's a right place for that. So ito, let me enjoy the moment na as a first-time candidate na nakapag-file na,” she said. “I will honor your questions siguro sa office namin, which is siguro tamang lugar na magpa-interview.”
