At a glance

  • Keeping your day-to-day life stress-free and observing a healthy lifestyle is easily manageable using something as simple as a smartwatch.

According to a study by the World Health Organization in 2021, the number of people living with hypertension among adults aged 30 to 79 years doubled to 1.28 billion since 1990. Data shared by the former president of the Philippine Society of Hypertension, Deborah Ignacia D. Ona, MD, MBA, FPCP, also shows that one in five Filipinos have hypertension. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, can come from multiple factors like a high-stress environment, living an inactive lifestyle, or from lack of sleep. This has placed an importance in Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM), or the method of measuring your blood pressure over a 24-hour period, allowing one a clearer look on their cardiovascular health. Fortunately, keeping your day-to-day life stress-free and observing a healthy lifestyle is easily manageable using something as simple as a smartwatch. Here are a few tips on how you can be healthy and stress-free using the new HUAWEI WATCH D2.

Drink plenty of water.

Our body needs water to fuel its everyday activities. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep track of how much water you need. With the HUAWEI Health app, you can pair it with your HUAWEI WATCH D2 to keep track of how much you’ve drank throughout the day. Using the health clovers function, a notification can be sent to the watch for when it’s time to drink up and rehydrate.

Be on the move and stay active.

It’s important to keep our bodies moving to keep the blood flowing and to avoid a sedentary lifestyle. Simple exercises like short walks and light yoga for a set amount of time daily helps keep our body active. Making use of HUAWEI’s easy-to-use health clovers function once more, it’s easy to keep track of how much movement you’ve done throughout the day. There’s also an activity record function, shown through three rings, that helps you achieve a goal of reaching a certain number of steps, the right amount of exercise, and ample time for standing up to keep your body active. These goals can also be adjusted and tweaked around to set up the ideal routine for your day-to-day basis.

Have a balanced diet.

Nutrition is vital to keeping our bodies healthy. Certain foods can also help in lowering stress levels. For instance, some fish dishes contain healthy fats and amino acids that help in the production of dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine and serotonin are vital in giving feelings of happiness and pleasure. HUAWEI’s Health app can once again be synced with your HUAWEI WATCH D2 watch to keep track of your calorie intake throughout the day. You can set a goal and keep a log of your diet to ensure you’re having a healthy mix of meals.

Get a good night’s sleep.

Stress can build up when you’re tired. When was the last time you had a proper amount of sleep? On average, adults are recommended at least seven hours of sleep per night to allow their body to recharge itself. If you’re having trouble sleeping, consider putting on some ambient noises to put your mind at ease. HUAWEI’s Health app includes deep sleep music that has multiple white noise tracks to choose from and help get you to sleep faster. Syncing it with the HUAWEI WATCH D2 watch also allows you to track your sleep routine, allowing it to assess your sleep quality and record sleep sounds throughout the night.

Monitor your blood pressure.

The use of ABPM helps provide a clearer look at our cardiovascular health. HUAWEI WATCH D2 has the Health Glance tool that allows users to have a quick overview of important aspects of their health, especially their blood pressure. It looks over one’s heart rate, blood pressure, SpO2, stress, skin temperature, ECG, vascular health, respiratory health, and more. Using Health Glance also generates and displays your health reports on both your watch and phone, via the HUAWEI Health app, to allow for more effective health management.

To monitor BP using the HUAWEI WATCH D2, start by generating an ABPM plan on the device.
Once the plan is set, the first measurement will be taken automatically within one minute, and subsequent measurements will occur at 30-minute intervals throughout the day and night. The time can also be manually set, with a general suggested interval of 15-30 minutes.  For auto-start measurements during the day, the watch will inflate automatically after an eight-second countdown. For manual measurements, simply tap the screen to start the process. Ensure that you are seated still in the standard posture, avoiding any physical activities like driving or being in a wet environment during measurements. Under the Single Blood pressure measurement scenario, it is suggested to sit still for more accurate data’ while for ABPM, it can be done standing.

At night, the watch will automatically take measurements without any additional input from you. If a measurement is missed or fails, you can manually retake it to ensure the data remains valid. Once a measurement is complete, the watch will automatically deflate and display the latest reading in the ABPM app. You can check your blood pressure trends in charts on your phone, with clear markers that distinguish between day and night readings. At the end of the 24-hour monitoring period, review the key indicators and a detailed breakdown of each measurement in the app.

After each blood pressure measurement, users can also quickly view the precise data based on the results of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring on the watch, displaying average blood pressure, blood pressure trends, and data interpretation over 24 hours. The HUAWEI WATCH D2 also adheres to global certification guidelines, including AAMI, ESH, and ISO 2018.

To make things easier, in a single tap its wearer can measure nine body indicators and generate a Health Glance report to identify potential health risks. This includes heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen, stress, skin temperature, ECG, vascular elasticity, pulse wave arrhythmia, and sleep apnea detection. HUAWEI WATCH D2 is also Huawei’s first smartwatch with a blood pressure analysis function in the Health Glance.
