The Manila Department of Public Services (DPS) and personnel of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) collected 128 metric tons of garbage or 46 truckloads in the aftermath of the Traslacion from the Quirino Grandstand up to Quiapo Church and the cleanup is still ongoing.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the DPS and the MMDA immediately conducted the clean-up drive the moment the Andas of the Black Nazarene left the Quirino Grandstand.

The 128 metric tons of garbage or 46 truckloads were collected at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The DPS also conducted a flushing operation during its second day of clean-up drive on Wednesday, Jan. 10.

It said that this year's Traslacion yielded a higher number of trash compared to the previous years' processions.

Due to the loads of garbage left along the Traslacion route, the DPS’ cleaning operation is still ongoing, Lacuna said.
