Sexagenarian nabbed for raping senior high student


BACOLOD CITY – A 62-year-old man was arrested in Kabankalan City on Tuesday, January 9, for allegedly raping and killing a senior high school student in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental over the weekend.

POLICE arrested a 62-year-old rape suspect in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on January 9.

Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz police chief, identified the suspect as Federico Delfin Jr.

Batusbatusan said they were able to trace Delfin’s whereabouts after the victim’s family told police that the suspect has a family in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

He coordinated with the Kabankalan City Police Station to monitor the suspect until he was sighted in Barangay Tampalon and was arrested around 5:50 a.m.

Batusbatusan was the former police chief of Kabankalan City before he was assigned to Cadiz City.

He said the suspect was transported back to Cadiz City for the filing of rape with homicide charges.

Batusbatusan said that they were able to identify the suspect based on circumstantial evidence and witnesses.

The suspect is the father of the victim’s stepfather, according to Batusbatusan.

The victim was last seen alive on Sunday, January 7.

She was found naked and lifeless, with a slash wound in the neck, the following day. Her left ear was cut and her fingers on both hands were chopped, according to Batusbatusan.

Police recovered a bolo in the crime scene. 

Delfin has yet to be reached for comment.
