P1.2-M shabu seized in Bacolod drug sting

BACOLOD CITY â€“ Police seized 180 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.2 million from a 19-year-old man and his stepfather in a buy-bust operation at the Old Airport runway in Barangay Singcang-Airport here on Monday, January 8.

Police identified the suspects as Mark Anthony Sorongon of Barangay 30 here and Anthony Calantas, 31, of Barangay 29, this city.

Police Capt. Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said suspects were tagged as high-value individuals.

Sorongon was subjected to the operation after his uncle was arrested for a drug offense.

Mercado said they are checking the background of the suspects if they had previous cases.

Drug charges are being readied against the suspects who are detained at Police Station 8.

This is the biggest drug haul of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) since the start of the new year.
