In a weather update, weather specialist Grace Castañeda warned of isolated rainshowers or sudden and brief rains in Metro Manila brought localized thunderstorms and easterlies.

“Kapag po tayo ay lalabas ngayon, huwag po natin kalilimutan ang mga pananggalang natin dito sa mga biglaang pag-ulan na ito (If we are going out now, let us not forget our precautions for these sudden rains),” she said.

Meanwhile, Castañeda said the shear line will continue to prevail in the Eastern part of Southern Luzon. “Magdadala pa din ng mataas na tsansa ng mga pag-ulan, pagkidlat at pagkulog lalong-lalo na sa area ng Bicol region (This would bring a high chance of rain, thunderstorms, and lightning, especially in the Bicol region),” she explained.

Moreover, Castañeda noted that the northeast monsoon, or “amihan” will also continue to bring cool weather to Northern and Central Luzon. “Meron din itong dalang mahinang pag-ulan o pag-ambon lalong-lalo na sa area ng Cagayan Valley (It also carries light rain or drizzle, especially in the Cagayan Valley area),” she said.

The easterlies or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean are also expected to bring scattered rain, lightning, and thunderstorms to some parts of Mindanao, especially in its Eastern regions.

“Sa kasaluuyan, wala tayong mino-monitor o nakikitang sama ng panahon na maaring makaapekto dito sa ating bansa (At present, we are not monitoring or observing any weather disturbance that could affect our country),” Castañeda said.

Weather update

In its latest weather advisory, PAGASA noted that the shear line will continue to affect the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon will affect Northern and Central Luzon.

With these, cloudy skies with light rains are expected in Cagayan Valley.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms will also be expected in the next 24 hours in the Bicol Region, Quezon, Aurora, Caraga, Davao Region, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, and Camiguin.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains brought by the “amihan” are also expected in the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times heavy rains, or severe thunderstorms in the areas affected by the weather systems.
