Nonagenarian dies in fire

SAN MATEO, Isabela – A bedridden 97-year-old woman was charred to death in a fire that hit her house in Purok 3, Barangay Sinamar Norte, this town, on Sunday, January 7.

Police identified the victim as Saturnina Guray.

Initial investigation revealed that a five-year-old boy was allegedly playing lighter inside the house.

The minor reportedly lighted the curtain, resulting in a fire that spread in the house.

The charred remains of the victim were found by firefighters.

Damage to property is yet to be determined.
