The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains caused by the northeast monsoon will be experienced over Metro Manila in the next 24 hours, and will continue until Tuesday, Jan. 9 when the Feast of the Black Nazarene is celebrated.

From Jan. 8 to 10, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon, locally known as "amihan," as well as the shear line and easterlies, will be the dominant weather systems that will bring rains across the country.
In the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Bicol region, Quezon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur may also experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the shear line—a weather system where the cold northeasterly winds and warm easterly winds converge.
PAGASA said flash floods or landslides may occur in the affected areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the easterlies.
PAGASA also warned the public of flash floods or landslides that may occur during severe thunderstorms.
