BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Tourism-13 has deployed 7,148 tourism front liners to assist tourists in the Caraga region.
DOT-13 Director Ivonnie B. Dumadag said these tourism front liners have completed training under the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) which is vital in implementing the tourism program in the region this year.

She said DOT-13 targets more tourism front liners for FBSE training this year in an effort to revive the Filipino values of love, respect, and hospitality in the industry.
“We are reviving Filipino hospitality, love, and Filipino values through this FBSE,” said Dumadag.
She disclosed they are seeking more tourism front liners from resorts, hotels and restaurants, transportation services, students, and local government units.
Meanwhile, in partnership with public and private tourism stakeholders, the DOT-13 will expand the Philippines Experience Program (PEP) in Caraga by stepping up the cultural and heritage tourism program in tourist spots in the region.
“We are now beginning our series of consultation meetings and workshops in relation to our cultural and heritage tourism agenda in relation to PEP implementation in our region,” Dumadag said.
With the full support of local government units (LGUs), travel tours and tourism stakeholders, and the agency’s accredited travel tours in Caraga, Dumadag said the agency has mobilized its regional staff and personnel to hit their target this year.
“Ocular inspections and immersions to develop and establish tourism circuits and products already started, in an objective to complete the tour package and itinerary to partner stakeholders for promotion,” she said.
PEP is the agency’s program to expand culture, heritage, and arts caravans which is part of the cultural tourism product development program of the DOT.
It will highlight and herald the Filipino brand identity in all aspects of travel and tourism experience, added DOT-13 Senior Tourism Operations Officer Kylee Doreene Q. Plaza.
She added that the PEP program is among the priorities of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco which is the recalibration of the tourism products centered around the country’s “Filipino-ness” and its unique and defining cultural attributes as a nation.
Among the top PEP cultural and heritage and destination targets this year in Caraga are Magellan Shrine, Museo de Cabadbaran, Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Balangay Shrine and Banza Church Ruins, Lake Panlabuhan Floating Village, Irizarri White House, Cultural Walk of Hinatuan and Tribunal, Black Beach 2, and PBMA Divine Master Shrine.
“These are our targeted tourism spots for this year of 2024, aside from our already globally known country’s surfing capital in Siargao and game fishing in Pilar, also in Siargao,” Plaza added.
