Armed truck driver posing as a cop arrested in Pasay City

A truck driver posing as a police officer and armed with an unlicensed .38 caliber revolver was arrested by members of the Pasay City police Sub-station 1 on Sunday, Jan. 7.
The Southern Police District (SPD) said the suspect, identified as alias Elmer, 38, was arrested at around 9:20 p.m. along Dominga St., Barangay 45, Pasay City.
Pasay City police chief Col. Mario Mayames said Elmer was arrested during a follow-up operation conducted by members of Substation 1 after a report was made by Barangay watchman, Erwin Liro, on the suspect posing as a police officer and brandishing his super .38 caliber pistol.
Mayames said the suspect was positively identified by Don, a 19 year-old student, who witnessed Elmer brandishing his firearm and claiming that he was a police officer.
He said the police confiscated the .38 caliber pistol loaded with six live ammunitions from alias Elmer who was immediately brought to the police custodial facility after his arrest.
The police filed charges for violation of RPC Art. 177 (Usurpation of Authority) and Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunitions Regulation Act) against alias Elmer.
