2 motorcycle-riding men die after falling off Quezon Avenue flyover
Two motorcycle-riding men died after their bike fell off the Quezon Avenue flyover in Quezon City on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 7.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) District Traffic Enforcement Unit (DTEU) - Traffic Sector 6 identified the backrider of the motorcycle as Peter Paul Zapanta Navarro, 37, of Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa, Quezon City.
The driver of the vehicle was still unidentified, police said.
Investigation disclosed that the victims, who were on board a Honda Click 125 motorcycle with no plate number, were traversing the Quezon Avenue, Barangay Bagong Pag-Asa, from Agham Road going to Elliptical Road at around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.
Upon reaching the flyover, the motorcycle suddenly crashed into the railings causing the vehicle and its riders to fall to the westbound lane of the underpass.
Police said the victims were brought by Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) personnel to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. The motorcycle driver was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Navarro died while undergoing treatment at the same hospital.
The police immediately went to the area to conduct an investigation and recovered a sachet of unidentified white crystalline substance and P1,470 cash from the scene.
The incident is still under investigation.
