2 minors perish in Lanao del Norte blaze

ILIGAN CITY – Two minors died in a fire in Purok 4, Barangay Titunod, Kolambugan, Lanao del Norte on Sunday night, January 7.

Police Capt. Eric Logroño, Kolambugan police chief, said the victims were four and six-years-old.

The fire displaced 37 families and destroyed 36 houses, 31 of which were totally and six partially damaged.

Initial investigation revealed that the fire started in the “abuhan” (cooking area) in one of the houses.

The fire reached the third alarm at 11:07 p.m. and declared fire out at 12:49 a.m. on Monday, January 8.

Arson probers are conducting follow-up investigation.
