Police arrested two men for illegal possession of firearms in separate anti-criminality operations on Saturday, Jan. 6, in Caloocan City.
Police said suspect “Anghelito”, 18, a resident of Barangay Bagong Silangan, Caloocan City, was nabbed by members of the Caloocan City Police who were conducting Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO).
The police officers approached the suspect after seeing him urinating in public, which is a violation of a city ordinance in Caloocan, at around 11:35 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Phase 4, Robis Barangay 176, Bagong Silang.
While requesting the suspect to present his identification card for the issuance of an Ordinance Violation Receipt (OVR), the lawmen noticed a firearm tucked on his waist.
The police immediately arrested the suspect. Seized from him was a pen gun with live ammunition for a .38-caliber firearm.
Meanwhile, another suspect, identified as alias “EF EF”, 39, also a resident of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City was arrested by law enforcers.
Report showed that the police operatives accosted him for smoking in public place at around 11:15 p.m. on Jan. 6 at Bicol Area Street, Barangay 175 Camarin, Caloocan City..
When the suspect stood up from his seat, the arresting officers saw a .38-caliber revolver tucked in his waist.
The suspect failed to present any documents for the confiscated firearm.
The two suspects will be charged for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, police said.
