3.3-M devotees join Traslacion 2024

Around 3.3 million devotees joined the procession of the Black Nazarene or Traslacion from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church on Tuesday, Jan. 9.
The procession officially started at around 4:45 a.m. with over 1.3 million devotees.
Authorities said the crowd became smaller at around 6 a.m., with 700,000 people joining the procession, while around 200,000 people stayed at the Quirino Grandstand and around 30,000 in the vicinity of Quiapo Church.
At around 7:44 a.m., authorities said the number of devotees at the procession reached 830,000, while 11,500 devotees were recorded in Quiapo Church.
From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., more or less 1,008,000 devotees were seen with the image, while 60,500 devotees flocked to the Quiapo Church.


The number of devotees went down to 500,000 as well as the people in Quiapo, where only 35,250 were left.
At around 11 a.m., the number of devotees in the procession went down to 530,000, while the people at the Quiapo Church were estimated at 71,700.
From 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the number of devotees reached 1,112,900 in Quiapo Church.
At around 3 p.m., the andas arrived at San Sebastian Church, where the “Dungaw” rite was conducted, where only 500,000 devotees were left at the procession and 122,800 in Quiapo Church until 4 p.m.
From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., 800,000 devotees stayed at the procession, while 154,000 people were at Quiapo Church, waiting for the return of the Black Nazarene.
The procession reached Villalobos Street in Quiapo at 7:10 p.m.
At 7:44 p.m., the image of the Black Nazarene officially arrived at the Quiapo Church.
The Quiapo Church command post said the procession took 14 hours, 59 minutes, and 10 seconds (14:59:10), breaking the record for the fastest procession of 16 hours in 2020.
